    Contract Description:

    The school summer holiday period of 2013 provided the perfect opportunity for George Watson’s College in Edinburgh to upgrade their 17 year old synthetic turf hockey pitch that had reached the end of its life. Having worked with the school for a number of years, Ecosse Sports were delighted to be chosen as main contractor for the work. The project involved removing both the existing shockpad and artificial grass carpet and replacing this with a new shockpad and sand-dressed hockey carpet. The school chose TigerTurf ‘Evo PRO’ which has an 18mm pile height and texturised monofilament fibre profile. ‘Evo PRO’ offers an unrivalled 12 year manufactuers warranty thanks to durability of the yarn profile and therefore continues to be the sand-dressed synthetic turf surface of choice within the education market. The ‘Evo PRO’ system has been FIH and ITF tested to current standards and has achieved both FIH National and ITF pace rating 5 accreditations.

    Contract Description:

    George Heriot’s School in Edinburgh was established in 1628 and is one of the most prestigious academic institutions in Edinburgh. In June 2013, a feasibility study that was carried out to investigate the possible refurbishment of an old sand filled artificial pitch at their Goldenacre playing fields. Refurbishing old facilities is never straight forward as an old site can often have many issues to deal with and resolve which can be historic in nature. For this reason an investigation of the existing state of the base, drainage and shock pad was necessary to anticipate costs for the refurbishment and advise the school accordingly. Ecosse Sports were awarded the contract to refurbish the facility and work started during the school 2013 summer holidays. A 15mm insitu shock pad and TigerTurf ‘Evo PRO’ hockey carpet were installed as well as upgrades to the fencing and kickboards to the pitch. The project was delivered on time to budget and now provides the school with a high performance hockey facility for the future.

    Erskine Stewart’s Melville Schools

    Contract Description:

    As one of the oldest all girls’ schools in the U.K., Ecosse Sports were delighted to be chosen as preferred contractor to convert of the full size hockey pitches at Mary Erskine School in the summer of 2014. The school became the 5th independent school in Scotland to install the TigerTurf ‘Evo PRO’ sand-dressed hockey surface, joining an additional 110 reference sites at other schools and sport clubs across the U.K. The finished surface was tested for compliance to FIH National standard and passed, ensuring that the school has a high performance hockey facility for both curricular and competition use.
